SeaTable has a powerful import feature to use records from XLSX or CSV files in SeaTable. If you experience problems importing your files, it may be due to one of the following technical limitations:
- The maximum file size for import is 100 MB.
- The maximum number of lines is 50,000 rows.
- SeaTable cannot import embedded graphics or files.
- SeaTable supports only XLSX files from Microsoft Excel and LibreOffice.
If you can exclude these technical restrictions and still have problems with the data import, you should take a look at the article Tips and tricks when importing CSV or XLSX files. In this, further typical pitfalls are described.
Maximum file size and number of lines
When you import Excel files, SeaTable supports this for files up to a maximum size of 100 MB and up to 50,000 rows. Because of these generous limits, you should never actually run into problems because of file size. If you have a file that is larger or has more rows , you will have to split it into two Excel files and perform the import in several steps.
Embedded graphics and files
Importing graphics and files via XLSX file is not possible. For such import you need to use SeaTable API, which allows you to import images and files without difficulties.
Different file formats
The import function of SeaTable has been tested with files from LibreOffice as well as current files from Microsoft Excel. Other office programs (such as from the company Softmaker) are not actively tested, which may lead to different import results. If in doubt, use Microsoft Excel or the free LibreOffice to get the best results.
