A normal view in SeaTable allows collaborative team work via the browser in real time for up to 100,000 rows. Big Data allows you to store unlimited rows, but reduces your ability to collaborate. Before using Big Data, be sure to take a look at this help article to learn what limitations you should expect when using Big Data.
Limitations of Big Data
The Big Data backend offers largely unlimited storage of rows, but also comes with certain limitations. Below you will find an overview of the limitations.
- Changes to a Big Data entry are not synchronized in real time in another user's browser. The changes are only visible to other users after a reload of the page.
- You cannot share Big Data views in user-defined sharing authorizations.
- You cannot create new rows or columns in a Big Data view. This must always be done in a normal view.
- In a Big Data view, there are significantly fewer column options available.
- You cannot changelinked entries for Big Data entries.
- Conditional formatting (rows highlighting and coloring cells) is not available with Big Data.
- Data processing operations are not available with Big Data.
- The Find and Replace function is not available.
- Links to rows in the big data backend are not displayed in normal views. However, they are in a Big Data view.
Many of these limitations of big data do not apply to the Universal App
Most users of the Big Data backend do not even notice the restrictions. However, if you are affected, you should take a look at the universal apps. Many of the restrictions mentioned do not apply there.
