You want to send emails from your SeaTable Base? For example, automated emails to customers or colleagues? With SeaTable this can be implemented quickly, but it is necessary that you first set up an appropriate SMTP account within Base for sending emails.
This article shows you how to easily connect your SeaTable Base to the popular German email services of GMX or Web.de.
You need a Web.de or GMX email account
If you don't have a Web.de or GMX email account, you'll need to create one first. If you have a Google account instead, read the article on how to set up Gmail for sending email.
To register with Web.de or GMX, follow these steps:
- Open gmx.de or web.de.
- Click on Register for free! below the login or on Create mail account in the upper right corner.
- Preferably, choose the free offer by clicking Register Now.
- Enter your preferred email address and fill in your personal details.
- Make a note of your email and chosen password for later.
Allow external SMTP usage
Once you have registered your own email address, you cannot immediately use it to send emails within SeaTable. You must first allow your Web.de or GMX account to be used by another service like SeaTable.
- Log in to your Web.de or GMX email account.
- Switch to the Settings section.
- Enable POP3/IMAP access.
- Save your change.
With this, you have made all the preparations to be able to use this email account in SeaTable.
Creating the SMTP account in SeaTable
Now add your GMX or Web.de email account as a third party provider in your SeaTable Base. The following steps are necessary for this:
- Open the advanced base options by clicking on the three dots .
- Select the Third Party Integration option.
- Add a new email account.
- Enter the following information:
- Account name: any
- Sender: {Ihre GMX/Web.de Adresse}
- SMTP server: smtp.gmx.net or smtp.web.de
- SMTP port: 587
- Benutzername: {Ihre GMX/Web.de Adresse}
- Passwort: {Ihr Passwort}
